"I tend to work in series.......whether it be still life, figurative or landscape. When painting a particular still life subject, I become so familiar with the nuances of the subject matter that I can delve into the excitement of the painting process with confidence and passionate energy. I apply paint generously with a direct, painterly, expressive and intuitive approach. I want my process to show through.
Encouraged at a young age by family and High School Art teachers to stay on an artistic path, I followed my dream to attend the Massachusetts College of Art. I graduated in 1978 with a BFA in Art Education and a minor in painting. I have had career experience as an art educator, a graphic designer, a muralist and as a manager of an art gallery in my home town of Melrose MA. At mid-life, with a studio to call my own, it is with brush in hand, standing at my easel, that I am truly fulfilled. A member of several Art Associations including the Copley Society of Art in Boston, I enjoy doing demos, teaching workshops, judging exhibitions and painting in my Boston Studio. My work has received many awards and my paintings hang in numerous private collections." - Ellen Rolli
