15" length x 6.5" wide
Hand built stoneware tray. Glazed by hand with small brushes to bring out the detail in pattern and texture. A small cord is attached to the back so that the tray may be displayed when not in use. All glazes are food safe, and hand washing is recommended.
This line of pottery is inspired by the traditional needle crafts made by women in the 19th and early 20th century. Using a combination of wheel throwing, coil, and slab techniques, Laurie Pollpeter Eskenazi transforms vintage designs into contemporary stoneware. She achieves a non-manicured, organic look by layering impressions taken from vintage lace, buttons, and handmade stamps. Influenced by the colors and textures found in her travels throughout France, Italy, Spain and the rural Midwest, her pallet is lush and vibrant.
