As a landscape painter, I’m most interested in fields, trees, and marshes. My hope is to convey a sense of place and invite the viewer to enjoy the tranquility of these quiet uninhabited spaces. Living near the water in a rural Rhode Island town has given me the opportunity to explore nature and to spend time painting plein air.
Denise Zompa holds a BA in Art and Elementary Education and a Masters in Education. She has studied painting at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and the Newport Art Museum. After retiring from teaching art, Denise is now painting full time.
